About Indian River Lagoonwatch

The Indian River Lagoonwatch is part of an overall approach to assess trends and changes in the water quality of the Indian River Lagoon. The program was established in 1989 by the Marine Resources Council. The primary goal of Indian River Lagoonwatch is to provide the agencies involved in regulating the lagoon with data of known quality for determining long-term seasonal and temporal trends in water quality. The program is volunteer based. Over 50 volunteers, each assigned a specific site, monitor that water quality of the Lagoon on a weekly basis. These dedicated volunteers serves as stewards to the Lagoon and are truely the foundation of this program!
